Collings Guitars recently announced a new model we’ve been looking forward to for well over a year, the Collings I-35 LC Vintage. This updated model features new laminate and center block recipes, along with a new neck construction and profile, more in-line with some of the great semi-hollows of the ’60s. Toss in custom Throkbak pickups and you have a lightweight, and extremely responsive build that combines the best in Collings engineering and craftsmanship.

Last year, at the 2020 NAMM show, we had the opportunity to spend some time with an early I-35 LC Vintage prototype and after only a few minutes we were blown away. This early prototype didn’t sport the new vintage-inspired knobs or aged hardware, and of course a few subtle features have been enhanced throughout the year, but it was obvious to all us that this was going to be a guitar we could get excited about.
