This weekend is fully loaded with music in Lawrence, Kansas with the annual Busker Festival all weekend, which brings unique entertainers from around the country that fill the streets with music, dance and more. The Kansas State Fiddling and Picking Championships are also this weekend, officially happening on Sunday. We’re sponsoring the flatpicking contest this year, and will have a table at South Park on Sunday, so stop by. You can get an early taste of ‘Fidpick’ at the Busker Festival on Friday and Saturday, at the Replay Lounge on Friday, at Americana’s pre-party this Saturday at 6:0 p.m. Check out the full Fidpick schedule here.

Right around the corner we have a great concert scheduled at Mass Street Music on Saturday, September 13 at 7:00 p.m. with International Bluegrass Music Association Guitarist of the Year Jim Hurst, and Winfield Fiddling Champion Jeff Guernsey. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the store. Hurst and Guernsey are leading the Winfield Warmup Guitar Workshop Weekend, Sept. 12-14 and you can find out more about this great clinic at wiresandwoodproductions.com.

We just added some very cool, handcrafted cigar box guitars to the store. These Kelly Stillfield Cigar Box Guitars are well made (in Maysville, Missouri) and feature great necks, piezo pickups and interesting construction materials including old Pine flooring, license plates and of course cigar boxes. Look for another Cigar Box Guitar Clinic from us down the road.

Other new additions to the store include more Stone Deaf Effects Pedals including the Trashy Blonde Overdrive and the Fig Fumb Paracentric Filter Fuzz. These are made in England and offer a modern take on classic effects with added features and killer construction.
