We have a ton of fantastic gear come through the shop every year. Whether it’s new, used, vintage, consignment, a pedal, an amp, a guitar, or even a mandolin…the list of favorites could honestly go on and on. By no means is this a complete list, but we’ve compiled some of our favorite picks in 2019 for your viewing pleasure.
Josh Baldridge – Tom Anderson Electric Guitars – T Icon – Daphne Blue In-Distress Level 2
The tele is bonkers…so much so Tom Anderson almost to kept it for himself.

Jim Baggett – Collings Guitars – Parlor Deluxe 2HA MR Traditional T Series – Madagascar Rosewood
This parlor is a fantastic guitar, featuring one of the last sets of Madagascar that I worked with Bruce at Collings to pick out.
Martin Guitars – 1937 000-28
This 000-28 was in amazing condition for a prewar. One of my favorite for 2019.

Eric Putnam – Tungsten – Foxtrot Fuzz Red
I had to pick this for my best of the year because this fuzz has not left my board since I put it on! It can go from aggressive and spitty to smooth and controlled just by changing the volume on the guitar. Predictable clean up and it loves running into drive pedals.

Matt Pelsma – Dr. Z Amps – Jetta
Dr. Z always makes the best amp I have ever played, and this amp is no exception. As Z himself says, it’s “three knobs and the truth.” Or as I say, “just excellence.”

Brian Soden – Mythos Pedals – Au79 Golden Fleece Fuzz – Mass Street Music Edition
We’ve had a ton of fantastic gear come through the store in 2019, but this little guy is a standout. The Mythos Pedals Au79 Golden Fleece has only been out in the wild since mid-October, but it’s already being spotted on Nashville session boards and in pedal nerd collections! Versatile, small, affordable – and it’s GOLD!!!

Mike Horan – The Plek Machine
The Plek machine is the most significant addition to the repair shop in 2019. We’ve fully hit our stride with it and use it daily for a range of activities, from basic neck and fret diagnostics, to fret dressing, fingerboard planing, making custom nuts and cutting saddle slots. Come check it out!

Trey Durkin – Collings Guitars – D1 A Traditional T Series
These guitars are amazingly good. I am consistently blown away by how good this model sounds and feels. This is the guitar I play. Mine sounded great on day one, but over the course of the last two years of heavy playing it’s sound has gotten even sweeter and more responsive than I could have imagined. All the Collings Traditionals are truly amazing lifetime instruments. Come play one and have a listen for yourself! You’ll be glad you did.

Susan Willits – Collings Mandolins – MT GT Black Top
I know I just picked the Collings MT GT Black top for my December staff pick, but it really is my favorite staff pick of 2019! The Collings mandolins have such a satisfying woody chop. Clear, crisp and clean notes, easy playability, and a simple elegance make this a truly wonderful life time mandolin. If you’ve played a Collings mandolin before, you know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t ever played a Collings, you should come on in and give this one a try!

Matt Kappenman – Taylor Acoustic Guitars – 517e Grand Pacific Builder’s Edition – Wild Honey Burst
This has been my favorite of the Andy Powers V-Class guitars to come from Taylor. It has a dry responsiveness that works well for country/singer-songwriter stuff while still holding its own in a flatpicking jam. It’s exciting to see Taylor flipping the script on what a V-Class dreadnought could and can be.
Some great V-Class Taylors in the shop right now!

I have a Takamine fd360sc which needs re-freting. Bought it 30 years ago, new. I live near Manhattan. I am retired and can bring it to you any day at your best convenience. And maybe advise me if it is worth putting it on your Plek machine. thank you, Leighton Ph, 909-376-9692
