It goes without saying that local music, and more importantly local musicians, are the reason Jim decided to open a shop here in downtown Lawrence, and why it’s been our home for over 37 years. We wouldn’t be here today without that support from the local music community, and it’s why we’re excited to have played a part in what has now become a fantastic showcase for local music.

A while back we worked on a collaboration with I Heart Local Music and the Lawrence Public Library to create a musical archive that featured the enormous talent in our Northeast Kansas music scene. The Kaw Valley Jukebox from the library is the latest incarnation of that platform and it is absolutely amazing. Free streaming of music from local musicians, along with links to directly support and purchase their music. The site is full of familiar faces along with local bands that you might just now be discovering! Head on over and check it out.

More importantly to our audience is that the KVJB is currently taking submissions through July 31st! Head on over to the submissions page and get to work on submitting your album or EP.

Thanks again to the @lawrencelibrary and the @lplstudio for pushing this idea forward and making it into a fantastic resource for our community. #downtownlawrence
