Eric Mardis – Collings Electric Guitars – I-35 LC Vintage – Jet Black – Aged Finish
Collings always hits it out of the park, and this I-35 is currently my favorite guitar on the wall. I am a big fan of the Throbak ESG-102B humbuckers, and they truly shine in this evolved take on the classic semi-hollowbody shape. The guitar is elegant and a bit dangerous as well! It is a very versatile instrument for rock, blues, jazz and beyond.

Eric Mardis – Wren and Cuff Effect Pedals – Eye See ’78 OG
Wren and Cuff’s take on the rare op-amp Big Muff variant available for only a few years starting in 1978 from EH/NYC. The original is one of the “secret weapons” Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins) used to create the monstrous tones on Siamese Dream etc. Un-tamed Muff tones abound! This pedal lends you a god-like sense of power that is very addictive.

Marnie Orville – Collings Guitars – 2004 D1A – Used with Calton Case

Clark Russell – Martin Tiple – 1964 T-28 – Brazilian Rosewood
The Martin Tiple is quite the conundrum to describe, both in terms of its nature and its sound. Is it a ukulele? Is it a 12-string guitar? It’s really a bit of both and also entirely its own thing. Inspired by traditional South American instruments, such as the Colombian Tiple, the Martin Tiple is a 10 string acoustic instrument strung in a 2, 3, 3, 2 configuration tuned like an Ukulele. With the middle two sets having two upper octaves surrounding the core note, its richness is unmatched, offering a depth and magical quality you’ve never heard before from such a tiny instrument. Personally, I was awestruck at the sound even through my paltry ukulele playing! Once I heard a customer, who was a phenomenal uke player, giving it a strum I was absolutely floored at how beautiful of an instrument it truly is.

Matt Harmon – Collings Electric Guitars – 620 SM LC – Pelham Blue
It pays to play a guitar and really sit down and get to know it. I came to realize this 620 SM LC is an extremely versatile guitar. It has a a wonderful bloom to the notes and has a wide range of treble and bass that can achieve so many different types of music. I really like the clarity of the neck pickup that harks back to a staple p90 in tone and the bridge pickup really shines with a little dirt on it.

Susan Willits – Kimble Mandolins – 2003 Style H Mandola – Used
This 2003 Style H Kimble mandola is incredible! The notes are full, round, clear and distinct, and did I say full and round? Even the high notes are rich and round! You can feel the vibration in your chest when you play and the notes float and sustain beautifully. Playability is great all along the neck. This mandola is definitely a winner.

Matt Kappenman – Martin Acoustic Guitars – DE Retro Plus Mahogany
Dollar for dollar this is one of my favorite guitars in the store right now. Spruce top, mahogany back and sides, with a gloss finish, electronics built-in AND it says Martin on the headstock. This is a fantastic flatpicker and a wonderful step up into the world of solid-wood guitars. It’s also a great festival guitar for anyone wanting to leave their nicer stuff at home. All at under $2k.
