This stunning 000-45 had an extra block of wood attached to its bridge plate on the underside of the guitar top. Carefully removing this mess took almost 8 hours, slowly planing off the excess wood until Jim could get some leverage and use a … Continue reading Repair Spotlight: 1938 Martin 000-45 Bridge Plate Repair

It’s tough being the boss sometimes. Especially when one of Mass Street’s favorite guitar builders invites you along for a European tour! Jim is on the road with BIll Collings of Collings Guitars, touring fellow instrument shops and attending the AGM18 festival in Sarzana, Italy. Jim referred to it as the “Winfield of Italy,” but for some reason the weather is probably going to cooperate a bit better in Italy than it … Continue reading Bill & Jim’s Excellent European Adventure Tour

Behind the Scenes at Collings Guitars

Two of our staff, Eric M., sales and Anne T., marketing, went to Austin, Texas in February to visit Collings Guitars. Though Mass Street Music has been a Collings dealer for acoustic guitars, electric guitars, mandolins and ukes for many years (in fact we were the third dealer ever), this was Eric and Anne’s first jaunt to the Collings ‘factory’. We say it with quotation marks … Continue reading Behind the Scenes at Collings Guitars
